Helena’s Last Chancers Barbershop Chorus has been entertaining area groups since the early 1970’s in the barbershop style. We sing some old songs and some new songs in four-part a capella harmony. The Chorus is a member of the Barbershop Harmony Society, a worldwide organization founded in 1938 to promote and preserve barbershop music as an art form. Core values of barbershoppers worldwide include a love of singing, rich camaraderie, personal growth musically, and the joy of sharing four-part harmony with others.
The Last Chancers regularly perform at health care facilities, sporting events, downtown strolls, the farmer’s market, Farm in the Dell Harvest Days, Festival of Trees, and other special events. Singing Valentines has become a big hit with a quartet providing a love song and a rose or card to the lucky recipient. Advance orders can be registered at 449-2877. A portion of the proceeds from Singing Valentines goes to fund a scholarship to the annual Big Sky Youth Harmony Rendezvous each summer.
The chorus meets each Tuesday evening at 7 PM at the East Helena Methodist Church. Men of all ages are invited to come and share in the joy of singing a song. |
